Privacy Policy

How Gustrion collects, uses, and stores personal data submitted through gustrion.digital — the contact form, news tips, and routine site logs.

Last revised: 12 October 2026

This policy explains how Gustrion handles personal data collected through gustrion.digital. It covers what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to readers, tipsters, and anyone who writes to the editorial team.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you use the contact form or send a news tip, we receive what you type into it: your name, your email address, and the content of your message, including any files or links you choose to include. Nothing else is required to reach us.

Technical data

We also record standard technical information: browser type, device type, approximate region, referring page, and the pages you visit. This is used to keep the site working and to understand aggregate readership rather than to identify you personally.

We do not collect payment information on this site. Shopping or subscription billing does not take place here, so no card details are ever requested, processed, or stored by Gustrion on gustrion.digital.

Why we collect it

Contact details

Used to reply to your message, verify a correction you have flagged, or follow up on a tip. If a story changes because of something you sent, we may come back to you for confirmation before we publish.

Technical data

Used to operate the site, diagnose outages or broken pages, and measure how many people read a given explainer. These figures stay in aggregate reporting.

Editorial record

Correspondence about a published piece is kept so the editorial team can trace how a claim was checked, corrected, or updated over time.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it. Gustrion does not run targeted advertising against reader correspondence.

How long we keep it

Messages and tips

Kept for as long as needed to respond and to maintain an editorial record of how a story was reported. In practice that can mean months or years when a message relates to a running policy fight.

Technical logs

Kept for a limited period, then deleted or aggregated into readership figures that no longer identify a device or a visitor.

If you ask us to delete your message, we will — unless we are required to keep it for a legal or editorial reason, such as an active correction or a documented sourcing note. In that case we will tell you what is being held and why.

Sharing

Service providers

Companies that help us run the site — hosting, email delivery, and analytics — may process information on our behalf under agreements that limit how they can use it.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect the rights and safety of our readers, our sources, and our staff.

What we never do

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not hand reader correspondence to political campaigns, advocacy groups, or data brokers.

Your choices

You can ask to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you by contacting us through the contact page. Tell us which message or address you are asking about, and we will confirm what we hold and act on your request.

You can also opt out of non-essential cookies through the cookie settings described in our Cookie Policy. Essential cookies keep the site loading and secure; the rest are your call.

If you are a source, our confidentiality commitment applies regardless of these choices. Exercising a privacy right does not change how we protect your identity.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision, so you can see when it last moved. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
